The ISCAR 6402632 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the ChamGroove series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the IC528 grade with a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN coating, this insert is engineered for cutting superalloys and titanium, materials that demand a tough, wear-resistant substrate and a slick, heat-resistant surface layer. The right-hand insert has a cutting width of 1.20 mm (0.0472 inch) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.60 mm (0.0236 inch). Overall insert length is 10.68 mm (0.4205 inch). Machinists and tooling specialists working in aerospace, medical, and high-performance manufacturing install this insert type.
This insert is suited for single-end grooving applications where tight tolerances and surface finish on difficult-to-machine materials are required. The IC528 grade targets ISO material groups M (stainless steel), P (steel), and S (superalloys and titanium), making it a practical choice for job shops and production facilities cutting high-strength alloys. It is a single-use, non-reversible insert. The insert size code is 11-1.20R060 and the catalog number is GIQR 11-1.20-R060. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 10 pieces.
Designed for use in ISCAR ChamGroove series toolholders that accept GIQR style inserts with an 11-1.20 insert size designation. Confirm toolholder pocket specifications before ordering. No additional compatible model numbers were provided in the product data.
Installation and replacement of grooving inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a powered-down, locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or hex key at the manufacturer-specified seating torque for the toolholder pocket — do not over-tighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or contamination before seating a new insert. Apply cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material, particularly when machining titanium or superalloys, to manage heat and chip evacuation.
