The ISCAR 6402397 is a left-hand cut, solid carbide grooving tool designed for internal grooving operations on small-bore workpieces. Built from solid carbide throughout, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for precision grooving in production environments. The tool features a full-radius profile with a 1.00 mm radius, a groove width of 0.0790 inches (2.00 mm), and a shank diameter of 7.00 mm. With an overall length of 57.00 mm, it is sized for CNC lathes and turning centers where tight bore clearances demand compact tooling. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with small-diameter internal features will find this tool suited to repeatable, tight-tolerance groove applications.
This grooving tool is intended for internal grooving in bores with a minimum hole diameter of 4.70 mm. Its left-hand cutting direction makes it appropriate for specific spindle configurations or part orientations where a right-hand tool would not clear the workpiece. The maximum hole depth capacity is 1.2560 inches (32.00 mm), and the projection measures 2.50 mm, giving the tool reach within confined bore geometries. Typical applications include groove cutting for snap rings, O-ring seats, and retaining features in precision-machined components across metalworking and manufacturing industries.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide internal grooving tool for use in CNC lathes and turning centers capable of accepting a 7.00 mm shank diameter toolholder system.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable safety procedures. Secure the shank firmly in the toolholder to the specified clamping requirements of the toolholder manufacturer before initiating any cutting operation. Inspect the carbide tool for chipping or cracks before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and can fracture if subjected to interrupted cuts or excessive feed rates beyond the toolholder system rating.
