The ISCAR 6402113 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the GIPA300020PA geometry designation and IC20 uncoated grade, engineered for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It delivers a 3.00 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 1.80 mm, making it well suited for shallow, precise groove profiles. The IC20 uncoated solid carbide substrate provides a consistent edge without a coating layer, which is preferred when machining certain non-ferrous and universal workpiece materials where coating adhesion or edge buildup is a concern. The insert is part of the Cut-Grip series and is installed by toolroom machinists and CNC setup technicians.
This insert is designed for use in Cut-Grip series toolholders that accept the GIPA insert style. Its neutral hand orientation allows use in standard axial grooving applications without a left- or right-hand restriction. The PA chip breaker geometry features a positive rake angle of 7 degrees, promoting efficient chip evacuation in a range of workpiece materials classified under universal primary material codes, including ISO material groups H, K, M, N, and S. It is suitable for light-duty grooving and finishing cuts in both production and job-shop turning environments.
Designed for use in Cut-Grip series toolholders accepting the GIPA insert style. Compatible with workpiece materials across ISO 13399 material groups H, K, M, N, and S, per manufacturer designation. Confirm holder and pocket specifications match the GIPA 300020 insert size before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Before changing inserts, bring the machine spindle to a full stop and engage the machine lockout per your facility safety protocol. Use the correct torx or clamping key specified by the Cut-Grip toolholder to seat the insert without over-torquing the clamping mechanism. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout accuracy.
