The ISCAR 6200356 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision groove turning and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This double-ended insert carries the HFPR3003 style designation and runs in the Heliface series, accepting an IC830 grade substrate with a PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN coating stack. The insert delivers a 3.00 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 1.50 mm, and a 0.30 mm corner radius. A positive 7-degree rake angle reduces cutting forces, making this insert well suited for finishing and light roughing passes where edge integrity matters. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for right-hand grooving operations on superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for steel and stainless classifications per the ISO material codes P, M, and S. Typical applications include external grooving, undercut profiling, and snap-ring groove generation on turned components in aerospace, medical, and general precision machining environments. The clamp-style insert holding method is standard for Heliface toolholders. The double-ended geometry extends usable tool life before the insert is replaced.
Designed for use with ISCAR Heliface series clamp-style grooving toolholders accepting the HFPR3003 insert style. Primary workpiece materials are superalloys and titanium, with additional suitability for steel and stainless per ISO material codes P, M, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all stored energy is released before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly in the Heliface toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seating surface and clamp for chips or debris before securing, as contamination can affect insert runout and tool life.
