The ISCAR 6200342 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Identified by the style designation HFPR4004 and manufactured to grade IC830, this double-ended insert delivers a 4 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2 mm. The PVD-applied AlTiN and Titanium Nitride coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection suited to demanding cutting conditions. With a positive 7-degree rake angle and a 0.40 mm corner radius, the insert promotes controlled chip formation and reduced cutting forces. It is part of the ISCAR Heliface series and conforms to ISO 13399 standards. Installation and tool setup are performed by qualified CNC machinists and tooling specialists.
This insert is engineered for grooving applications on superalloys and titanium workpieces, making it appropriate for aerospace, medical, and high-performance industrial machining environments. The right-hand cutting orientation and clamp-style holding method suit standard Heliface-compatible toolholders. Its double-ended design allows for two usable cutting edges per insert, extending tool life between changeovers. The IC830 grade and PVD coating combination is selected specifically for ISO material groups M, P, and S, covering stainless steels, carbon steels, and superalloys respectively.
Designed for use in ISCAR Heliface series clamp-style toolholders that accept the HFPR4004 insert size. Suited for machining superalloys, titanium, stainless steels, and carbon steels per ISO material groups M, P, and S.
Installation of grooving inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle locked and all power isolated. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and verify the clamp secures the insert without rocking before resuming operation. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidance for clamping hardware torque and insert seating. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or coating wear before each use.
