The ISCAR 6200327 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Heli-Grip series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries ISCAR grade IC808, a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD-applied AlTiN, TiAlN, and TiN multilayer coating that extends tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. It features a neutral hand orientation and a self-grip holding method that locks the insert securely into compatible Heli-Grip toolholders without additional fasteners. The cutting width is 5 mm with a corner radius of 0.50 mm, and it is manufactured to ISO 13399 standards. Machinists and CNC operators in production turning environments install and index this insert.
The ISCAR 6200327 is suited for grooving operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. Its universal primary workpiece material rating makes it a versatile choice across job shop and production environments. The double-end design provides two usable cutting edges per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume turning work. The Heli-Grip series is commonly used where secure, repeatable insert seating is required in interrupted cut or continuous grooving applications.
Designed for use with compatible ISCAR Heli-Grip series toolholders that accept the GRIP 5005Y insert size and self-grip holding method. Verify toolholder seat geometry before installation.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate insert seating tool or a clean, dry cloth when handling carbide inserts to prevent edge chipping. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating the insert, as contamination in a self-grip pocket can affect clamping force and insert runout. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended insert installation procedure for Heli-Grip style seats.
