The ISCAR 6200319 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Heli-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries ISCAR grade IC808, a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD-applied AlTiN, TiAlN, and TiN multilayer coating that supports high cutting speeds and extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The GRIP3015Y geometry provides a 3.00 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 1.50 mm, and a positive 7-degree rake angle. The double-ended design delivers two usable cutting edges per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume production environments. Machinists and CNC tooling specialists install this insert into compatible Heli-Grip toolholders.
This insert is suited for grooving, recessing, and parting operations in both light and general-purpose production turning. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to standard axial grooving setups. The IC808 grade is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, H, and S, which correspond to steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hardened materials, and high-temperature alloys. The self-grip insert holding method locks the insert securely in the toolholder pocket without clamping screws, enabling fast indexing on the shop floor.
Designed for use with ISCAR Heli-Grip series toolholders accepting the GRIP 3015Y insert size. Compatible with ISO material groups P, M, K, H, and S as identified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. The self-grip pocket retains the insert by spring force; ensure the insert is fully seated and flush in the pocket before resuming cuts. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris each time the insert is indexed to maintain accurate seating and prevent premature edge failure.
