The ISCAR 6200305 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for high-performance groove turning and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to the Heliface series and carries the IC808 manufacturer grade, a submicron-grain carbide substrate with a PVD-applied AlTiN, TiAlN, and TiN multilayer coating for elevated wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert features a left-hand orientation, a 4 mm cutting width, and a full-radius corner with a 2 mm corner radius. The positive 7-degree rake angle reduces cutting forces, making this insert suitable for a wide range of workpiece materials. It is installed and managed by CNC machinists and tooling technicians in precision turning applications.
The ISCAR 6200305 is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. This spans hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, general steels, and heat-resistant superalloys, making it a versatile grooving solution across job shop and production environments. The insert seats in a clamp-style holder and is double-ended, providing two usable cutting edges per insert. Typical applications include external grooving, profiling, and face grooving on precision-turned components in automotive, aerospace, and general machining operations.
Designed for use with ISCAR Heliface series clamp-style grooving toolholders accepting HFPL4020 insert geometry. Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified clamping screw torque procedure for the Heliface toolholder to ensure the insert is fully seated against the pocket locating surfaces. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before installation, as contamination can affect seating accuracy and edge performance.
