The ISCAR 6200303 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Heliface series, designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Identified by style code HFPL3015, this left-hand insert delivers a 3 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 1.5 mm. It carries the IC808 grade designation, a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD-applied multilayer coating of AlTiN, TiAlN, and TiN. The positive 7-degree rake angle reduces cutting forces and promotes chip flow in demanding applications. Installed by machinists and CNC tooling specialists, this insert is suited for shops running tight-tolerance grooving work across a broad range of workpiece materials.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, H, and S — meaning it handles steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hardened materials, and heat-resistant superalloys. The Heliface series uses a clamp-style insert holding method, and this double-end insert design offers two usable cutting edges per piece, extending tool life between change-outs. Typical applications include external grooving, face grooving, and parting operations on turned components in production machining environments.
Designed for use in ISCAR Heliface series grooving toolholders that accept HFPL-style clamp-mount inserts with size code 3015. Compatible with ISO material groups P, M, K, H, and S as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state before any insert change. Seat the insert fully in the Heliface toolholder pocket and secure the clamp to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure before resuming operation. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before each installation. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 1.5 mm per pass.
