The ISCAR 6200192 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Heli-Grip series standard, this insert features a 5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 3 mm, making it well-suited for shallow to medium-depth grooving work. The IC418 manufacturer grade uses a CVD-applied Al2O3 and TiC coating for wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The neutral hand orientation allows for straight-in grooving cuts. Installation is performed by clamping, compatible with Heli-Grip toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments will find this insert a direct fit for ISO 13399-documented tooling systems.
This insert is rated primarily for cast iron workpiece materials, designated by the ISO material code K. It is classified as a multi-use insert, meaning it can be reindexed within the same holder setup where toolholder design permits. The HG-Y chip breaker geometry is engineered to control chip flow during grooving in harder, abrasive materials. The insert suits both light and medium grooving applications within the maximum depth of cut range of 3 mm to 4 mm, covering a broad range of groove profiles encountered in production machining shops.
Designed for use with ISCAR Heli-Grip series toolholders accepting GRIP5008HG-Y style inserts. Primary workpiece material compatibility is cast iron (ISO material group K). The insert size code is 5008Y. Confirm toolholder acceptance of the 5008 insert size before ordering.
This insert is installed and replaced by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the Heli-Grip toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw; do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
