The ISCAR 6200184 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the GRIP476080Y geometry in grade IC418, it delivers a 4.76 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2.80 mm. The CVD-applied Al2O3 and TiC coating provides thermal and wear resistance suited to interrupted and continuous cuts. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians install this insert into compatible Heli-Grip toolholders for high-repeatability grooving on cast iron and similar workpiece materials.
This insert is specified for grooving cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material group K. The neutral hand orientation suits straightforward radial grooving setups. A positive 7-degree rake angle promotes clean chip formation, while the Y-style chip breaker controls chip evacuation in moderate to deep groove profiles. The double-ended configuration allows both cutting edges to be used before the insert is retired, extending cost-per-edge value in production turning environments.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper seating and edge registration.
