The ISCAR 6200180 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Heli-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the GRIP318159Y insert style designation with an IC908 manufacturer grade, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal stability. It has a cutting width of 3.18 mm (0.1252 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 1.50 mm (0.0591 inches), making it suited for shallow, accurate groove profiles. The full-radius geometry with a corner radius of 1.59 mm (0.0630 inches) and a positive rake angle of 7 degrees supports clean chip formation. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct replacement in compatible Heli-Grip toolholders.
This insert is intended for universal primary workpiece material applications, covering material grade classifications C1, C2, C6, and C7, with ISO workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. It is suited for general grooving work on ferrous metals, stainless steels, cast irons, and exotic alloys in both production and job-shop turning environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard straight grooving setups. With a chip breaker style designated Y and a positive rake, it promotes controlled chip evacuation in tight groove geometries. This insert is a single-use, non-multi-use tool and is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in ISCAR Heli-Grip series toolholders accepting the GRIP318159Y insert size. Compatible with universal workpiece materials corresponding to ISO material codes H, K, M, P, and S.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and avoid premature edge failure.
