The ISCAR 6200175 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the GRIP318040Y designation and manufactured in the IC908 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers controlled cutting performance across a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 3.18 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 1.90 mm, and a 0.40 mm corner radius. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both left- and right-hand toolholders. It belongs to the Heli-Grip series and is suited for installation by machinists and tool-room technicians working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is used in external and face grooving applications on CNC turning equipment. Its universal primary workpiece material designation covers steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, high-temperature alloys, and other common materials, making it a versatile choice for shops running mixed-material production. The positive rake angle of 7 degrees and the Y-style chip breaker geometry promote efficient chip evacuation in shallow grooving passes up to 1.90 mm deep. It is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with Heli-Grip series toolholders that accept the GRIP insert style. Compatible with material grades C1, C2, C6, and C7 workpieces and primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S per ISO 13399 classification.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the toolholder manufacturer's recommended torque driver or clamping screw to secure the insert without over-tightening. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Always verify insert orientation and hand designation against the toolholder specification before resuming cuts.
