The ISCAR 6200125 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the ISCAR grade designation IC908 and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. It belongs to the Heli-Grip series and is designed for external and face grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert delivers a 6 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 3.60 mm, making it well suited for medium-depth grooving and part-off work. A positive rake angle of 7 degrees and a chip breaker geometry promote controlled chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. Double-end construction extends usable tool life per insert. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production turning environments are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is applicable across a wide range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum alloys, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the universal primary workpiece material designation and material grade codes C1, C2, C6, and C7. It is used in turning applications where consistent groove width control and surface finish are required. The Heli-Grip series is designed for grooving and turning operations where insert rigidity and repeatability are critical to part tolerances.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for Heli-Grip series grooving toolholders accepting GRIP6008Y style inserts. Confirm toolholder pocket specifications before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout state. Use the appropriate ISCAR Heli-Grip toolholder wrench or torx key to seat the insert securely; do not overtighten with impact tools. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, chips, or debris before seating a new insert. Verify cutting parameters against the workpiece material and machine rigidity before initiating a cut.
