The ISCAR 6200122 is a solid carbide double-end grooving insert carrying the GRIP4002Y geometry and IC908 manufacturer grade. It is designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert measures 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches) cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 2.40 mm (0.0945 inches) and features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The neutral hand orientation suits straight-in grooving. A positive 7-degree rake angle and Y-type chip breaker promote efficient chip evacuation across a broad range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments install this insert as part of the Heli-Grip tooling system.
This insert is suited for grooving applications on universal workpiece materials spanning ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, covering steels, stainless steels, cast irons, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. The IC908 grade with PVD TiAlN finish delivers wear resistance and edge stability at moderate to high cutting speeds. Typical use cases include external groove profiling, undercuts, and snap-ring groove production on turned components in job shop and high-volume production settings.
Designed for use in the ISCAR Heli-Grip tooling system accepting GRIP-style inserts with size code 4002. Compatible with material grades C1, C2, C6, and C7 per ISO 13399 classification, covering universal primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. The machine spindle must be stopped and all stored energy discharged before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the Heli-Grip holder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper edge engagement and prevent premature failure.
