The ISCAR 6200116 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Running the GRIP3002Y insert style with an IC354 grade and PVD-applied TiCN coating, it delivers wear resistance and edge toughness on demanding materials. The cutting width is 3.00 mm (0.1181 inches) and the maximum depth of cut is 1.80 mm (0.0709 inches). The double-ended design extends usable tool life. Machining technicians and CNC operators install this insert into compatible Heli-Grip toolholders as part of routine insert replacement or when switching grades for a new material application.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece materials including stainless steel (ISO material code M) and steel (ISO material code P), making it a practical choice for general turning shops and production environments running mixed material schedules. The neutral hand orientation suits straight grooving and face grooving setups. With a positive rake angle of 7 degrees, the cutting action reduces cutting forces, which is useful when working with thinner-wall or vibration-sensitive workpieces. The Heli-Grip series is engineered for secure insert clamping in grooving and parting applications on both small and medium-diameter workpieces.
Designed for use with ISCAR Heli-Grip series toolholders that accept the GRIP 3002 insert size. Conforms to ISO 13399 standards. Suitable for grooving and parting operations on stainless steel and steel workpieces.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert clamp — do not overtighten by hand or with impact tools. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Verify insert hand orientation (neutral) matches the toolholder configuration before resuming cuts.
