The ISCAR 6200115 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the HGPL3003Y geometry and IC328 manufacturer grade, designed for use in Heli-Grip style toolholders on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert delivers a 3.00 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 1.80 mm, making it well suited for narrow grooving and parting operations on difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. The TiCN coating is applied via a PVD process, providing a hard, wear-resistant surface that maintains edge integrity at elevated cutting temperatures. The double-end configuration extends usable tool life before replacement is required.
This insert is intended for machining superalloys and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes M, P, and S. It is applicable in production turning environments where tight groove tolerances and consistent surface finish are critical. The left-hand orientation suits specific toolholder arrangements where conventional right-hand inserts cannot reach. The positive rake angle of 7 degrees and Y-style chip breaker promote controlled chip formation in high-temp alloy cuts. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC setup personnel working in aerospace, medical, and energy sector shops represent the primary users of this insert.
Designed for use in ISCAR Heli-Grip series toolholders that accept the HGPL insert style with size code 3003. Rated for material grades C2, C3, C5, and C6, and optimized for primary workpiece materials classified under ISO codes M, P, and S, including superalloys and titanium.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and all energy sources locked out per facility LOTO procedures. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and confirm the clamping screw is tightened to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before initiating any cut. Inspect the insert seating surface and pocket for chips or debris before each index or replacement. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges during storage and installation.
