The ISCAR 6200092 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the GRIP4004Y geometry and IC354 manufacturer grade. It is designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a TiCN PVD coating that provides wear resistance and surface hardness suitable for machining stainless steel and steel workpieces. The cutting width is 4 mm with a maximum depth of cut of 2.4 mm. A positive rake angle of 7 degrees and the Y-style chip breaker geometry promote efficient chip control and reduced cutting forces. This insert is seated in Heli-Grip compatible toolholders and is installed by qualified machinists and CNC setup technicians.
This insert fits into the Heli-Grip series tooling system and is appropriate for precision grooving on both stainless steel and carbon or alloy steel components. Typical applications include external groove turning, undercut machining, and parting operations in production and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand Heli-Grip grooving blade holders. The IC354 grade with PVD TiCN coating is selected specifically for its performance on ISO material groups M (stainless steel) and P (steel), making it well-suited for medium to finishing cut conditions.
Designed for use in the ISCAR Heli-Grip grooving blade and toolholder series. Compatible with ISO material groups M (stainless steel) and P (steel). Insert size code is 4004Y. Material grade classifications C5 and C6 apply. Specific compatible holder models were not provided in the product data; consult ISCAR tooling catalogs for verified holder pairings with the GRIP4004Y insert style.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down the machine and confirm the spindle is fully stopped before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and ISCAR-specified clamping screw to secure the insert in the blade pocket — do not overtighten by hand or use improvised tools. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper edge alignment and prevent premature breakage.
