The ISCAR 6200091 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Heli-Grip series, designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the GRIP4004Y geometry and IC08 uncoated grade, it delivers a 4.00 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 2.40 mm. The double-end design extends usable tool life, and the positive 7-degree rake angle promotes free cutting action on non-ferrous workpiece materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this insert into compatible ISCAR Heli-Grip toolholders as a direct replacement unit.
This insert is suited for grooving non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass in both production turning and job-shop environments. The IC08 uncoated solid carbide grade is optimized for materials where coating adhesion or built-up edge is a concern. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to standard radial grooving setups. A chip breaker geometry labeled Y is incorporated to assist with chip control during shallow to medium-depth grooves within the 2.00 mm to 3.00 mm depth-of-cut range.

Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or hex key to secure the insert clamp to the manufacturer-specified seating torque for the toolholder model in use. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable machine guarding requirements during any tooling change.
