The ISCAR 6200080 is a solid carbide grooving insert from the Heliface series, designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the HFPL insert style with a 5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2.5 mm. The TiCN coating is applied via a PVD process, providing enhanced wear resistance and edge integrity on difficult materials. This is a left-hand, double-end insert with a full radius corner of 2.5 mm and a positive 7-degree rake angle, making it well suited for fine-finish grooving applications where chip control and surface quality matter. Machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is intended for use in applications where the primary workpiece materials are stainless steel and steel, corresponding to ISO material codes M and P. Its Heliface series designation, IC354 manufacturer grade, and C5/C6 material grade classification make it appropriate for moderate to high cutting demands in both production and job-shop turning environments. The double-end configuration extends tool life by offering two usable cutting edges per insert. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with ISCAR Heliface series toolholders that accept HFPL-style inserts in the 5025 size. Verify toolholder compatibility using the HFPL insert style and 5025 size code before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before insert exchange. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert clamp — do not overtighten by hand estimation. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination can affect seating depth and cutting geometry. Follow your facility safety protocols and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for insert handling.
