The ISCAR 6099484 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying grade IC908 with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. It belongs to the PENTA series and is designed for external and face grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert delivers a 0.062 inch cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.118 inches. The IC908 carbide grade with TiAlN coating provides wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. Right-hand orientation makes it a direct fit for standard right-hand toolholders in the PENTA system. Installation and indexing are performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians.
This insert is suited for grooving applications across universal workpiece materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous materials, as indicated by the material grade codes C1, C2, C6, and C7 and ISO material group codes H, K, M, P, and S. It is used in production turning environments where consistent groove width and depth control are critical. The NF chip breaker geometry is designed for finishing and near-finishing cuts rather than heavy roughing passes. Maximum depth of cut ranges from 0.100 inches to 0.150 inches depending on setup and material.
Designed for use with ISCAR PENTA series right-hand grooving toolholders. The manufacturers catalog number for this insert is PENTA 24N157NF079RS. Compatible with workpiece material groups H, K, M, P, and S per ISO material classification.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and all energy sources locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Use the correct ISCAR PENTA clamping key or wrench to secure the insert; do not use makeshift tools that can damage the insert pocket. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before indexing or replacing the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturers recommended clamping torque and setup procedure.
