The ISCAR 6099246 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the GFL 4-4D catalog designation and uses ISCAR's Self-Grip clamping system, which holds the insert securely under cutting loads without additional fasteners. The IC354 grade combines a PVD coating with a C5/C6 carbide substrate, making it well-suited for cutting stainless steel and general steel workpieces. Cutting width is 4.10 mm (0.1614 inches), and the insert features a 4-degree left-hand lead angle with a 7-degree relief angle. This is a single-end insert sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
This insert is intended for metal-cutting applications where clean, accurate parting cuts are required. The left-hand lead angle and 0.24 mm corner radius make it appropriate for light-to-medium stock removal on stainless steel and steel components. Typical use cases include production turning shops, tool-and-die operations, and maintenance machining environments where consistent cut-off quality is a priority. The IC354 grade's PVD coating extends edge life when cutting work-hardening materials such as 304 and 316 stainless steel.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip GFL series cut-off toolholders accepting size 4 inserts. Consult the ISCAR GFL toolholder lineup to confirm correct pocket and clamping jaw fit before ordering.
Installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Verify that the toolholder pocket and clamping jaw are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Do not use the insert in a holder with a worn or damaged clamping jaw, as insert retention and dimensional accuracy will be compromised. Follow the machine tool builder's recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and insert grade.
