The ISCAR 6092774 is a solid carbide cutoff insert in the GTL style, designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC354 manufacturer grade with a PVD coating for improved wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert features a 3.1 mm (0.1220 inch) cutting width and a 4-degree left-hand lead angle, which directs cutting forces to promote clean chip ejection and reduce burr formation on the workpiece. Held in place by a clamp using the Self-Grip series toolholding system, this single-end insert delivers consistent performance in high-volume cutoff applications.
This insert is suited for cutoff and parting operations in production machining environments where precise groove width and repeatable tool life are priorities. The left-hand insert orientation and 4-degree lead angle make it appropriate for applications where the chip must be directed away from the finished bore or shoulder. It is installed by qualified machinists and CNC setup technicians working with ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders that accept size 3 insert seats. The C5 and C6 material grades indicate suitability for machining steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders that accept a size 3 insert seat. Verify toolholder hand and seat size before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine powered off and the spindle locked. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and confirm the clamp is properly torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before returning the machine to service. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris that could cause the insert to seat unevenly. Single-end inserts should be indexed or replaced when wear is detected at the cutting edge rather than attempting to regrind.
