The ISCAR 6002865 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert carrying the manufacturer designation GFR4J-6D and grade IC328. It delivers a 4.00 mm (0.1575 inch) cutting width with a 6-degree right-hand lead angle and a 7-degree relief angle. The PVD coating process enhances wear resistance, making this insert well suited for machining superalloys and other demanding workpiece materials. It is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals on CNC lathes and turning centers equipped with compatible Self-Grip parting toolholders. The corner radius measures 0.25 mm (0.0098 inch), and the J-style chipbreaker promotes controlled chip evacuation during parting operations.
This insert is designed for parting and cutoff applications in production and job-shop turning environments. Its primary workpiece material designation covers superalloys, and material grade codes C2, C3, C5, and C6 indicate broad applicability across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Right-hand orientation suits standard turning setups where the tool approaches from the right side of the workpiece. The single-end configuration means the insert is replaced rather than indexed to a second cutting edge. Typical uses include bar stock parting, groove cutting, and profile turning where a precise 4 mm width is required.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series parting and grooving toolholders that accept GFR-style inserts with a seat size of 4. Conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists. Power down and lock out the turning center before seating or removing the insert. Ensure the toolholder clamping mechanism is free of chips and debris before inserting to achieve full, even seating contact. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
