The ISCAR 6002473 is a solid carbide milling insert in the GSFN 2.4 IC328 configuration, designed for high-performance grooving and milling operations on a range of ferrous and high-temperature alloys. The insert features a TiCN coating applied via PVD process, which provides enhanced surface hardness and reduced cutting friction compared to uncoated carbide. It carries a positive rake geometry with a honed cutting edge style and a neutral hand orientation. The inscribed circle measures 0.0949 inches, the cutting edge effective length is 0.0950 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0079 inches (1/128 inch). This insert is a single-sided design with one cutting edge and is sold individually.
This insert is suited for milling and grooving applications in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. It is appropriate for use in precision machining environments where consistent edge geometry and coating performance are critical. The self-grip holding method seats the insert securely in compatible toolholders from the SGSF cutter series. Typical users include CNC machining center operators, tool-and-die shops, and production machining facilities working with difficult-to-cut materials.
Designed for use with the ISCAR SGSF cutter series. Compatible toolholder series compatibility should be verified against the ANSI code GSFN 2.4 IC328 and ISO code GSFN 2.4 prior to installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert. The self-grip design does not use a clamping screw, so correct pocket geometry in the toolholder is required for proper retention. Verify insert orientation and hand designation match the toolholder specification before resuming operation.
