The ISCAR 5794883 is a ceramic turning insert in the Isoturn series, designed for single-point turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. This triangular insert carries a TPG style designation with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 1/32 inch corner radius, and a 60-degree included angle. The uncoated ceramic substrate is optimized for high-speed, hard-material and cast iron cutting applications where heat resistance and wear hardness outperform carbide. Insert thickness is 1/8 inch. The clamp holding method seats the insert securely in compatible toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert during routine insert indexing or tooling changeovers.
The 5794883 is suited for finish and semi-finish turning of cast iron and hard materials in both production and job-shop environments. The Isoturn series targets general-purpose external and internal turning setups. Primary workpiece material codes are H and K, covering hardened steels and cast irons. The maximum depth of cut is 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches). With a 60-degree triangle shape, each insert provides up to three usable cutting edges, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume turning operations.
Designed for use in TPG-style insert pockets within Isoturn series toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle triangular insert with P clearance and G tolerance. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry matches TPG 322 insert seating requirements before installation.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and in a locked-out, tagged-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamp screw, as ceramic inserts are brittle and susceptible to fracture under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert. Ceramic inserts require stable, vibration-free setups; interrupted cuts and heavy interrupted passes are not recommended.
