The ISCAR 5505914 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the IC907 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating that supports high cutting speeds and extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (CPMT style), a positive rake geometry, and a PF chip breaker designed to control chip flow and reduce cutting forces. The corner radius measures 0.4 mm (0.0157 inches) and the maximum depth of cut is 3.0 mm (0.118 inches). Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for universal application across multiple workpiece material categories, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The CPMT insert style with clearance code P and tolerance code M makes it a fit for standard CPMT-compatible toolholders used in medium to light turning passes. It belongs to the ISCAR Isoturn series, which is engineered for stable, consistent performance in turning applications where chip control and surface finish matter.
Designed for use in CPMT-style insert pockets on compatible turning toolholders within the ISCAR Isoturn series. Consult toolholder documentation to confirm insert seat geometry before installation.
Turning inserts are installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing any insert. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping hardware to secure the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before each installation.
