The ISCAR 5505714 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG431NF geometry, designed for use in CNC and manual lathe turning operations. Coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process, the IC907 grade delivers thermal resistance and edge wear performance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a positive rake angle, and an NF chip breaker that promotes controlled chip formation during finishing and semi-finishing cuts. It measures 15.5 mm in length with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 1/64 inch corner radius. This insert is part of the Isoturn series and is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning hardened steels, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and general-purpose ferrous and non-ferrous materials, corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. The NF chip breaker geometry targets finishing and light semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are priorities. The IC907 PVD-coated grade is well matched to interrupted cuts and materials prone to built-up edge. It is held in place using a clamp and pin method and fits standard DNMG-style toolholders with an M tolerance and N clearance angle.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard insert for DNMG-style turning toolholders accepting M-tolerance, N-clearance inserts. Compatible with workpiece materials in ISO groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Material grades C7 and C8 apply.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to release the clamp and pin, then seat the new insert fully before re-torquing the clamp fastener. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.1378 inches (3.50 mm) as specified for this insert geometry.
