The ISCAR 5505649 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CCGT432AF geometry, part of the Isoturn series. Designed for precision turning operations, it features an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a positive rake angle and a 7-degree relief angle (clearance code C). The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches and the corner radius is 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch). The insert measures 12.9 mm (0.508 inches) in length with an insert thickness of 0.1875 inches (3/16 inch). Manufactured in grade IC20, this uncoated carbide insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing cuts in a screw-held toolholder. Licensed machinists and CNC operators typically select this insert for close-tolerance external turning work.
The ISCAR 5505649 is applied in precision turning centers and CNC lathes where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. The AF chip breaker geometry and positive rake design make it well suited for machining cast iron, non-ferrous materials, and stainless steel in light to moderate cutting conditions. Primary workpiece material classifications include ISO material groups K, M, and N. It is held in place via a screw-clamp toolholder accepting CCGT-style inserts with a 0.2165-inch hole diameter. Maximum depth of cut is 3.50 mm (0.1378 inches).

Suitable for machining ISO workpiece material groups K (cast iron), M (stainless steel), and N (non-ferrous), as indicated by the supplier specifications. Confirm toolholder bore and clamping compatibility before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tool-setup technicians using the appropriate torx or hex key for the screw-clamp toolholder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before swapping inserts. Do not exceed the specified maximum depth of cut of 3.50 mm. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert to maintain accurate tool geometry.
