The ISCAR 5505575 is a solid carbide boring insert in the TPGX730 style, designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the IC908 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers thermal resistance and wear performance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The 60-degree triangular geometry provides three usable cutting edges, and the positive rake configuration reduces cutting forces during light-to-medium boring passes. At 0.0079 inches corner radius and 0.0937 inches thickness, this insert suits fine-bore finishing and semi-finishing applications where dimensional accuracy is critical.
This insert belongs to ISCAR's Isoturn series and is suited for universal primary workpiece material applications, covering material groups H, K, M, P, and S. It is appropriate for use in both light-duty production environments and general-purpose job shop turning. The left-hand cutting orientation must be matched to compatible left-hand toolholders. HVAC, plumbing, and industrial maintenance shops running CNC turning equipment for valve bodies, fittings, and precision components will find this insert applicable across a range of materials including steel, cast iron, stainless, and non-ferrous alloys.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for ISCAR Isoturn series left-hand boring toolholders accepting TPGX-style inserts with a 7/32-inch inscribed circle and 0.0984-inch hole diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate insert screw and torque tool as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not use generic fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper seating and prevent premature edge failure.
