The ISCAR 5505570 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TPMT insert style with a triangular shape and a 60-degree included angle, providing three usable cutting edges per insert. The IC907 grade features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating that supports cutting in a wide range of workpiece materials including steels, stainless alloys, and high-temperature superalloys. The insert measures 11 millimeters in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0157-inch corner radius. It belongs to the Isoturn series and is installed using a screw-type holding method. This insert is typically specified and installed by CNC machinists and tooling technicians in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning operations on materials classified under ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, carbon and alloy steels, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. The maximum depth of cut is 3 millimeters (0.118 inches), making it well-matched for finishing and light semi-finishing passes. It fits into TPMT-compatible toolholders commonly used in both external and internal turning setups. The T chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation across the supported material range.

This insert is installed and changed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before accessing the toolholder. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat and torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure full contact and accurate edge positioning.
