The ISCAR 5505523 is a TPMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process, the IC907 grade delivers strong wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 60-degree triangular geometry with a positive rake angle and an 11-degree relief angle, producing clean chip flow and reduced cutting forces. At 16.5 mm in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, this insert is suited for moderate to aggressive material removal depths up to 0.472 inches (12 mm).
This insert belongs to the ISCAR Isoturn series and is intended for screw-on toolholders compatible with the TPMT insert style. It is rated for use on a broad range of workpiece materials including steels, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, cast irons, non-ferrous materials, and hardened materials. It is well-suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on production turning equipment in both job shop and high-volume manufacturing environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers. The T chip breaker geometry aids in controlled chip evacuation during continuous cuts.
Designed for use in TPMT-compatible screw-on turning toolholders within the ISCAR Isoturn series. Suitable for primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened materials, cast iron, steel, non-ferrous, general steel, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw to manufacturer torque specifications found in the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert seat and shim for debris or damage before each insert change to maintain dimensional accuracy.
