The ISCAR 5505128 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMG 433-TF IC907 configuration, designed for precision single-point turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the Isoturn series, this triangular insert features a 60-degree included angle, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle (IC), and a 3/64-inch corner radius. The IC907 substrate receives a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer coating that supports high cutting speeds and extended tool life. The N clearance and M tolerance codes match standard TNMG toolholders widely used in production and job-shop turning. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.
This insert is suited for turning applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. Primary workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, general steels, non-ferrous alloys, stainless and heat-resistant alloys, and superalloys. The TF chip breaker geometry supports positive-rake cutting conditions and controlled chip evacuation at moderate to aggressive feed rates. Typical applications include external and internal diameter turning, facing, and profiling on both ferrous and non-ferrous components in automotive, aerospace, and general machining environments.
Designed for use in standard TNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp and pin insert retention. Compatible with the ISCAR Isoturn series toolholding system. Material grade designations C7 and C8 apply. Suitable for workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S per ISO classification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specification for the clamp screw; do not over-torque, as this can fracture the insert. Index or replace the insert at the first sign of chipping, excessive flank wear, or degraded surface finish on the workpiece.
