The ISCAR 5504969 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the IDI-SG series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial applications. The cutting tip is manufactured from solid carbide in the IC908 submicron grade and finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that extends tool life in abrasive and heat-generating cuts. The drill features a 0.768-inch cutting diameter, a 140-degree included angle with a thinned web point for reduced thrust at entry, and a slow spiral flute configuration. It is intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians in production drilling operations on a range of ferrous and exotic workpiece materials.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for general-purpose drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. The IDI-SG series design allows the cutting tip to be swapped out without removing the holder from the machine, reducing changeover time in production environments such as CNC machining centers and turning centers where consistent hole quality and repeatability are required. The part complies with ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Designed for use with compatible IDI-SG series replaceable tip drill holders. The insert seat size is 19 and the ISO number is IDI 195-SG. Verify holder seat size and series designation before ordering.
Installation and tip replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Use the manufacturer-specified torque tool or key for the twist-lock insert holding method to ensure proper seating. Inspect the insert seat and holder bore for chips or damage before installing a new tip. This drill does not feature through-coolant, so external coolant or mist lubrication should be applied per shop practice for the workpiece material being drilled.
