The ISCAR 5504875 is a DCMT-style solid carbide turning insert engineered for precision external and internal turning operations. It carries an IC907 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating stack designed to extend tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius with a positive rake geometry. The SM chip breaker promotes reliable chip control during continuous and light-interrupted cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert as part of the Isoturn series tooling system.
This insert is suited for turning applications on materials classified under ISO workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys. It is appropriate for both light finishing and medium roughing passes. The positive rake geometry and SM chip breaker geometry make it well-suited for applications where chip control and surface finish consistency are priorities. The Isoturn series is a general-purpose external turning platform used on CNC lathes in precision machining and production environments.
Designed for use with DCMT-style screw-on turning toolholders in the ISCAR Isoturn series. Compatible with workpiece materials under ISO codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Material grades C7 and C8 apply. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and screw specification before installation.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screw to seat the insert without over-torquing the screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket for debris or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
