The ISCAR 5504866 is a KNUX-style parallelogram carbide indexable insert designed for profiling and turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Carrying the IC9025 manufacturer grade with a CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert thickness is 0.1875 inches, and the corner radius is 0.02 inches. With four cutting edges per insert and a negative rake angle of -12 degrees, it is suited for moderate to interrupted cuts in ISO P and M material groups. A licensed machinist or CNC setup technician installs and indexes this insert.
This insert is configured for right-hand turning and profiling applications where the KNUX series geometry applies. It conforms to the KNUX 160405 R11 standard per ISO 13399. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.1576 inches and a side length of 0.7770 inches, it is appropriate for medium-duty stock removal and contour-profiling passes on steel and stainless steel components. No chipbreaker is included, making it suitable for use where the toolholder or application controls chip flow independently. Typical environments include job-shop turning centers and production lathe cells handling P20, P30, M20, and M30 workpiece material grades.
Designed for use in KNUX-series toolholders requiring a KNUX 160405 R11 insert with a right-hand configuration. Compatible with primary workpiece materials classified under ISO P (steel) and ISO M (stainless steel) material codes, including P20, P30, M20, and M30 grades. Verify toolholder insert pocket specification against KNUX 160405 R11 before installation.
This insert is secured using a screw-clamp holding method; a torx or hex key appropriate for the toolholder clamp screw is required. Power down the machine and engage all safety locks before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping procedure to ensure proper seating and edge presentation.
