The ISCAR 5504407 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. Featuring the TPGX insert style with a 60-degree triangular shape and an 11-degree relief angle, this insert is built for left-hand cutting operations. The IC54 grade uncoated carbide substrate delivers sharp, consistent edge performance on demanding workpiece materials. With a 7/32-inch inscribed circle (0.2189 inches) and a 1/64-inch corner radius (0.0157 inches), it is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The insert is held in place by screw clamping and belongs to the Isoturn series. Installation and use are typically performed by CNC machinists and turning specialists.
This insert is intended for turning operations on stainless steel and steel workpieces, where a sharp uncoated carbide edge provides clean chip formation and dimensional accuracy. The left-hand cutting direction and L chip breaker geometry make it appropriate for specific toolholder orientations and chip control requirements in tight-tolerance turning applications. The maximum depth of cut is 2.50 mm (0.0984 inches), positioning this insert for light to moderate material removal on ferrous materials. It fits within the ISCAR Isoturn series toolholder system and conforms to ISO 13399 standards for insert identification and interface data.
Designed for use in ISCAR Isoturn series toolholders that accept TPGX-style, screw-clamped triangular turning inserts. Compatible with operations on stainless steel and steel workpieces as indicated by primary workpiece material codes M and P.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified CNC machinists or turning machine operators. Shut down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating method — do not overtighten. Verify cutting direction orientation against the toolholder before operation, as this is a left-hand-specific insert.
