The ISCAR 5503809 is an uncoated solid carbide turning insert designed for general-purpose metal cutting applications. It carries the ISO designation DNMG 431-TF and belongs to the Isoturn series. The diamond-shaped insert features a 55-degree included angle, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The TF chip breaker geometry is configured for positive rake cutting action, which reduces cutting forces and supports a broad range of workpiece materials. At 0.05 pounds, this insert is a direct replacement component for indexable toolholders used in production turning and boring operations.
This insert is suited for turning and boring on CNC lathes and manual turning centers across light to medium stock removal applications. The IC20 uncoated solid carbide grade is optimized for universal workpiece materials, covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S — meaning it handles cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, general steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. Maximum depth of cut is 3.00 mm (0.118 inches). It is held by clamp and pin method, making it compatible with standard DNMG-style toolholders. The multi-use designation includes boring as a listed application.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for indexable turning toolholders that accept DNMG 431 style inserts with clamp and pin holding method. Confirm toolholder seat geometry and pocket tolerance before installation.
Turning inserts of this type are installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing any insert. Use the correct torque wrench per toolholder manufacturer specifications when securing the clamping pin or screw. Inspect the insert seat and pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to avoid seating errors or premature edge failure.
