The ISCAR 5503802 is a solid carbide uncoated turning insert in the CNMG 432-TF geometry, part of ISCAR's Isoturn series. Designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake configuration and a TF chip breaker. The IC20 uncoated carbide grade targets applications where coating would reduce edge sharpness or where the workpiece material demands a razor-clean substrate. The insert measures 12.9 mm (0.508 inches) in length with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, making it suitable for medium-depth finishing and semi-finishing passes.
This insert is intended for use in turning operations across a range of workpiece materials including cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, aluminum alloys, and certain high-temperature alloys, corresponding to ISO material groups K, M, and N. The Isoturn series is a standard platform used in production turning environments — both job shops and high-volume machining cells. It is installed by CNC machinists and tool setters in facilities running medium to light finishing cuts. The clamp-and-pin holding method ensures secure seating in compatible CNMG-style toolholders.
Designed for use in CNMG 432-style toolholders that accept clamp-and-pin holding with a clearance code N and tolerance code M. Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S workpiece classifications. Material grades C2 and C3 apply.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or tool setters on CNC turning equipment. Before indexing or replacing inserts, the machine spindle must be powered down and the turret brought to a safe position per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Use a torx or hex key appropriate to the toolholder clamping screw — do not overtighten or cross-thread the clamp fastener. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure full contact and accurate positioning.
