The ISCAR 5502817 is a solid carbide uncoated turning insert in the CCMT style, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Classified under the Isoturn series, it features an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a positive rake geometry and a 7-degree relief angle (clearance code C). The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches and the corner radius is 0.0157 inches (1/64 inch). Insert length is 0.248 inches (6.30 mm) and thickness is 0.0938 inches (3/32 inch). It is held in place by a screw-style clamping method and conforms to ISO 13399 standards. Qualified machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. That range includes carbon steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. The CCMT geometry and IC20 uncoated carbide grade make it suitable for light to moderate turning passes where close tolerances and clean surface finishes are the priority. Chip breaker style 14 assists with chip control at appropriate feed and depth-of-cut conditions. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0984 inches (2.50 mm).
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for ISCAR Isoturn series toolholders accepting CCMT-style inserts with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and screw clamping. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping configuration before installation.
This insert is installed and changed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
