The ISCAR 5502326 is a solid carbide milling insert in the TPUN 160308 geometry, part of the ISCARMILL series. It carries an IC20 manufacturer grade and features an uncoated, bright finish suited for applications where coating is not required or where insert material alone provides the needed wear resistance. The insert has a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake, and three usable cutting edges. The inscribed circle measures 0.3748 inches, thickness is 0.1250 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0315 inches (0.80 mm). It is designed for use by machining professionals in production milling operations.
This insert is intended for milling applications across a broad range of workpiece materials including stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is suited for use in face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling setups where a triangular single-sided insert with a positive rake geometry is appropriate. The flat-top chip breaker design and honed cutting edge style make it appropriate for moderate to aggressive material removal on challenging alloys. The insert is held in place via a clamp-style insert holding method.
Designed as a replacement-style insert for ISCARMILL series toolholders and milling bodies that accept TPUN 160308 geometry inserts with a clamp-style holding method. Compatible with workpiece materials coded M, K, N, S, and H per ISO classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the milling spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a locked-out, de-energized state before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before installation to maintain proper insert positioning and edge repeatability.
