The ISCAR 5502143 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the TPGH style, designed for precision CNC and manual lathe turning operations. It carries the ANSI code TPGH2-1 and ISO code TPGH110204. The triangular insert body (60-degree included angle) measures 11.00 mm (0.4331 inches) in length with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a sharp 1/64-inch (0.0157-inch) corner radius suited for finishing cuts. Screw-held and left-hand oriented, it operates with a positive side clearance and an 11-degree relief angle. It is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This insert belongs to the ISCAR Isoturn series and is engineered for finishing-grade chip-breaking performance designated by chip breaker code L. It targets universal primary workpiece materials including stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous metals (N), and other material groups (S). The uncoated IC20 grade delivers high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance combined with toughness, making it a reliable choice across these material categories. Maximum depth of cut is 3.00 mm (0.1181 inches).
Designed for use in TPGH-style screw-clamp turning toolholders that accept a 1/4-inch inscribed circle triangular insert. Verify toolholder hand (left-hand) and insert pocket geometry before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down, spindle locked, and coolant supply shut off. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw through the insert hole; do not overtighten or use impact tools on the insert screw. Inspect the insert pocket and screw for wear or debris before seating the insert. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines during toolholder changes.
