The ISCAR 5500519 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the DNMS 432-12 IC20 designation, part of the Isoturn series. It features a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry, making it well-suited for light to medium turning operations where precise chip control and sharp cutting action are priorities. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, the insert length is 0.6102 inches (15.50 mm), and the corner radius is 1/32 inch (0.0315 inches). Holding is accomplished via clamp and pin. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC turning specialists working on lathes and turning centers across production and job-shop environments.
The ISCAR 5500519 is designed for turning applications on a range of workpiece materials classified under ISO material groups K (cast iron), M (stainless steel), and N (non-ferrous materials), with additional suitability for H and S material groups. The Isoturn series is a common choice for external and internal turning profiles where a diamond insert shape provides effective approach angles and clearance. Typical applications include finish turning, light roughing, and contour turning passes on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in both production and maintenance machining settings.
Designed for use in DNMS-style toolholders compatible with the Isoturn series. Suitable for workpiece materials in ISO groups H, K, M, N, and S. Material grades C2 and C3 apply. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping configuration before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down, spindle locked, and all energy sources isolated per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully into the pocket before engaging the clamp and pin — partial seating can cause insert movement or breakage under load. Do not exceed the specified maximum depth of cut or apply feeds and speeds outside the grade recommendations for IC20 uncoated carbide. Inspect the pocket and clamp for wear or debris before each insert change.
