The ISCAR 4550706 is an IHAXF-style indexable boring bar engineered for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. It accepts TPGX 73-series triangular inserts held by a screw-clamp method, providing a positive rake geometry that reduces cutting forces and improves surface finish in bore finishing passes. The bar features a 16mm shank diameter (0.630 inch), a minimum bore diameter of 14mm (0.551 inch), and an overall length of 73.99mm (2.913 inches). Through-coolant delivery is built in, directing fluid directly to the cutting edge to manage heat and chip evacuation at depth. Machining tool setters and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers and users of this toolholder.
This boring bar is suited for light to medium-duty internal boring in both ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials where tight bore tolerances are required. The 3-degree lead angle geometry supports stable entry and consistent insert engagement in through-bore and blind-bore configurations. Maximum bore depth reaches 50.01mm (1.969 inches), making it appropriate for short-reach precision applications in production turning environments. The Itsbore series designation indicates conformance to ISO 13399 cutting tool data standards, supporting integration with modern CAM and tool-management software.
Designed for use with TPGX 73-series (size code 73) triangular inserts in the IHAXF toolholder style. Compatible insert holding is via screw clamp. Verify insert grade and geometry selection against workpiece material and cutting parameters before use.
Installation and tool setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret or tool station is locked out before mounting or changing the boring bar or inserts. Confirm shank clamping torque against the machine tool manufacturer specifications and verify tool overhang does not exceed recommended length-to-diameter ratios for the target bore depth. Connect through-coolant supply lines according to the machine tool interface requirements before commencing cuts.
