The ISCAR 4550646 is an indexable boring bar designed for precision small-bore internal machining operations. Part of the Itsbore series, it accepts IHAXF-style inserts and delivers consistent bore geometry in tight-diameter applications. The bar features a 2.5mm minimum bore diameter and handles bores up to 4mm maximum, with a maximum bore depth of 12.5mm. The 8mm shank diameter and 43mm overall length make it well suited for compact CNC lathes and machining centers where reach and rigidity are both critical. Manufactured to ISO 13399 standards, this tool is a direct choice for machinists running small-diameter internal turning work where insert indexability reduces downtime.
This boring bar is applied in precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is intended for small-bore work, typically in job shop, production machining, and tool room environments. The IHAXF insert style is specific to this holder geometry, so insert selection must match accordingly. Coolant-through capability is not available on this model, making it best suited for applications where external or flood coolant is sufficient. Machinists working on components requiring bores in the 2.5mm to 4mm range will find this tool applicable for both roughing and finishing passes within its depth range.
Designed for use with IHAXF-style indexable inserts as part of the ISCAR Itsbore series. Compatible insert selection must match the IHAXF toolholder geometry specified for this boring bar.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the recommended clamping depth before operation, and verify runout with a dial indicator prior to cutting. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or changing the tool or insert. Follow the insert manufacturer guidelines for seating and torquing the insert clamp screw to avoid insert movement during the cut.
