The ISCAR 4501474 is a CAT40 taper shank shell mill holder designed for use on vertical and horizontal machining centers equipped with CAT40 spindle interfaces. The holder features a 0.75 inch pilot diameter and a flange-to-nose projection of 1.375 inches, providing a compact, rigid setup for face milling operations. Through-spindle coolant delivery is integrated, directing coolant directly to the cutting zone to improve chip evacuation and extend insert life. Total indicated runout (TIR) is rated at 0.0002 inches, supporting accurate, repeatable cutting performance across production and job-shop environments.
This shell mill holder is suited for milling applications in aerospace, die and mold, and general machining where a CAT40 spindle is in use. The through-spindle coolant feature makes it particularly effective when running carbide shell mills on steel, cast iron, or aluminum at higher feed rates where heat and chip buildup are concerns. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers. The 0.75 inch pilot accommodates standard shell mill arbor bores of that size.
Designed for use with machining centers equipped with a CAT40 spindle interface and shell mills with a 0.75 inch pilot bore.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machining center spindle before mounting or removing the holder. Use the appropriate CAT40 retention knob and confirm proper drawbar engagement before operation. Verify coolant passages are clear and seated correctly before enabling through-spindle coolant flow.
