The ISCAR 3892085 is a right-hand, internal indexable threading toolholder designed for precision thread-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the SI toolholder style in the SIR series, it accepts a wide range of IR and GT-style inserts secured by screw clamping. The shank measures 0.625 x 0.625 inches with an overall length of 6.0 inches and a minimum bore diameter of 0.64 inches. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation during internal threading passes. This toolholder is installed and set up by machinists and CNC lathe operators working in precision metalworking environments.
The 3892085 is suited for internal threading applications in both production and job-shop settings. With a maximum depth of cut of 1.26 inches and a head length of 1.26 inches, it handles a broad range of bore depths commonly encountered in turned components. The insert inscribed circle of 0.375 inches and insert thickness of 0.137 inches define the compatible insert geometry. It is appropriate for threading steel, alloy, and other machinable materials across a variety of thread forms supported by its compatible insert list.
Compatible insert forms include GTGA, GTMA, IR to MJ, IR/L to 55, IR/L to 60, IR/L to ABUT, IR/L to ACME, IR/L to API RD, IR/L to BSPT, IR/L to ISO, IR/L to NPT, IR/L to NPTF, IR/L to PG, IR/L to RND, IR/L to SAGE, IR/L to STACME, IR/L to TR, IR/L to UN, IR/L to UNJ, and IR/L to W thread forms.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC lathe operator. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the machine powered down before inserting or indexing the cutting insert. Verify shank clamping torque against the machine tool manufacturer specifications before beginning a threading cycle. Confirm bore clearance against the 0.64 inch minimum bore diameter before tool setup to avoid tool or workpiece damage.
