The ISCAR 3800172 is an internal, right-hand indexable threading toolholder designed for precision thread-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide, it accepts a wide range of IR-series and GTGA/GTMA indexable threading inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method. The shank measures 0.625 inches square with an overall length of 8.0 inches and a shank length of 7.375 inches. A minimum bore diameter of 0.75 inches defines the smallest bore this holder can reach. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed threading in materials that require thermal management. It belongs to the IscarThread series and is intended for installation by machinists and CNC tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This toolholder is suited for internal threading applications in both production turning and job-shop settings. The right-hand orientation and SI toolholder style make it appropriate for standard bore threading cycles on CNC lathes. Compatible insert profiles cover a broad range of thread forms including UN, ISO, NPT, NPTF, BSPT, ACME, trapezoidal, and several others, making this a versatile holder for shops that cut multiple thread standards. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before mounting or removing the holder. Verify turret pocket dimensions and torque the retention screws to the machine tool manufacturer specifications using calibrated tooling. Confirm coolant-through connections are properly seated before initiating a cutting cycle. Follow shop safety procedures and applicable OSHA machining standards when handling carbide tooling.
