The ISCAR 3800157 is an internal, right-hand indexable threading toolholder designed for precision thread-cutting operations on CNC lathes and boring applications. Built from solid carbide, this toolholder features a 0.315 x 0.315 inch square shank and an overall length of 5.0 inches. It accepts IR/L-style inserts across multiple thread standards including 55-degree, 60-degree, ISO, TR, and W profiles. The screw-clamping insert holding method provides secure, repeatable insert indexing. This toolholder is part of the ISCAR IscarThread series and is intended for use by machinists and tooling specialists in precision machining environments.
This toolholder is suited for internal threading on small-bore workpieces, with a minimum bore diameter of 0.355 inches. The neck diameter of 0.290 inches and a head length of 1.4 inches allow access into tight bore geometries. The maximum depth of cut reaches 1.4 inches, making it appropriate for threading operations in both production and job-shop settings. No coolant-through capability is included in this configuration, so external coolant delivery should be planned accordingly during setup.
Accepts IR/L-style threading inserts compatible with the following thread profiles: IR/L to 55, IR/L to 60, IR/L to ISO, IR/L to TR, and IR/L to W. Designed for use in the ISCAR IscarThread tooling system.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's clamping and torque guidelines for square-shank toolholders. Ensure the machine spindle and turret are fully stopped and de-energized before mounting or indexing inserts. Verify bore clearance against the 0.290 inch neck diameter and 0.355 inch minimum bore diameter before use. As this unit does not include coolant-through capability, confirm that external coolant flow is directed appropriately to the cutting zone to manage heat during threading cycles.
