The ISCAR 3401074 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-4-VF series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding industrial applications. It carries a 0.5 inch mill diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius and features four flutes with a variable index geometry that reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and oxidation protection, extending tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The extra-long configuration and extended reach make it well suited for deep-cavity and shoulder milling operations where standard-length tools cannot reach the workpiece.
This end mill is built for roughing and finishing operations across a wide range of ferrous and hard workpiece materials. The Weldon flat shank provides a positive, slip-resistant grip in compatible toolholders. The centercutting design allows plunge entry. The right-hand flute spiral and right-hand cutting direction are standard for conventional CNC milling setups in job shops, precision machining centers, aerospace component shops, and tool-and-die environments where tight tolerances and consistent surface finish are required.
Designed for use with standard Weldon flat toolholders. ISCAR catalog reference ECI-4 500-2.5W015VF5. Compatible with CNC machining centers running right-hand spindle rotation. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, and H cover steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials respectively.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is in an e-stop state before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the toolholder and secure the set screw against the flat to eliminate axial pullout under cutting load. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the first cut, and confirm coolant delivery method matches the no-through-coolant design of this tool.
